Using Time Machine with an Airport Extreme AirDisk
P4. "Backup volume could not be mounted"
You may get this message after changing a network volume's password.
If the password has been changed since Time Machine was configured, you may not be able to back up to it.
See this Apple article: Mac OS X 10.5.3 or later: Time Machine - "Backup volume could not be mounted" after changing network volume's password
Note: backing-up this way is not reliable and is not supported by Apple.
See: Using Time Machine with an Airport Extreme AirDisk for details.
See Time Machine FAQ #2 for other, more reliable ways to back up with Time Machine.
